Cheers and gifts to Chester Home, Selangor

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Chester Selangor in Sungai Buloh was filled with warmth and laughter on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, thanks to a heart-warming charity visit from the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL). The visit, a beautiful display of community spirit, brought much-needed cheer and essential supplies to the 28 residents.

The 24 IWCKL delegation, led by President Pang Yoke Ling, was honoured by the presence of Honorary Member YABhg Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong, was warmly welcomed by the founders, Mr. and Mrs. Mak, upon arrival.

President Pang Yoke Ling delivered a touching speech, expressing her gratitude to the founders for their warm welcome. She shared her hope that the visit would bring a day of fun and happiness to the residents, a sentiment that resonated throughout the day’s events. YABhg Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong was also invited to give a short speech in Cantonese to the delight of everyone present. A plaque and flower basket were presented to IWCKL as tokens of appreciation by Mrs Mak.

Today was made possible through a unique and inspiring initiative. President Pang Yoke Ling introduced IWCKL member and author Tan Siew Leng, whose book, “Here and Then Gone? Incredible - Stories from the Mines,” was the source of the donation. The proceeds from her book sales went directly towards the purchase of the much-needed items, showcasing a wonderful connection between creativity and philanthropy. The contributions included 3,000 adult diapers, medical supplies, and new curtains for the entire home, which brightened up the living spaces.

The true highlight of the day was the lively entertainment. IWCKL members treated the residents to a spirited karaoke session, which soon turned into a delightful duet and group sing-along with the residents. A number of IWCKL ladies also treated everyone to a dance performance of “Give Me A Kiss”, which was met with enthusiastic applause from all.

As lunchtime approached, the IWCKL members jumped in to help serve meals, taking the time to sit and chat with the residents. The simple act of sharing a meal and conversation created a sense of connection and companionship that was deeply felt by everyone.

The successful visit was commemorated with a group photo of the IWCKL members and the founders. As they bid their farewells, both the residents and the members of IWCKL were filled with a shared sense of gratitude and blessing for a day well spent, reminding everyone of the power of compassion and the joy of giving back.
