Deepavali project

The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur City Center was delighted to take the initiative to successfully transform the reading corner at the library of SJK(T) Jalan Fletcher, Kuala Lumpur.

The inspiration for this project came directly from the school’s Headmaster, who reached out to us after our earlier Christmas Project. Our goal was simple yet profound: to enrich the children’s learning environment by providing them with new books and resources.

The handover ceremony, a joyous occasion, took place at the school library.

Through the generosity of our members and friends, we collected about 254 story books, gathered over a period of 11 months were both in English and Bahasa Melayu.

We enhanced the reading corner by purchasing essential furniture. This included a rotating shelf, two white book racks and dividers to keep the books tidy.

To make the library the hub for language practice, we added games to the collection: four sets of Scrabble and two sets of Sahiba.

The event concluded with a cheerful breakfast provided for the entire school. The meal was enjoyed by 226 children and 89 staff. It was a heartwarming moment as many children lined up to personally say “Thank you” to the KLCC members who were present. The success of the project was entirely fueled by the generous donations of our members and the KLCC club.

The Organising Chairman Catherine Thenagaran thanked all the members for their presence and who made the day memorable.
