Dialysis Chair Donation Ceremony
Early on Saturday, 10th January 2026, six members of IWC Butterworth, led by President Dr Lalitha Ramasamy, gathered at Hospital Seberang Jaya in support of World Inner Wheel Day.
The club joined sister club IWC Pearl of the Orient (IWC POTO) in its World Inner Wheel Day initiative to donate fifteen ambulatory chairs aimed at enhancing patient care at the hospital. These chairs will greatly benefit patients receiving intravenous drips and those undergoing dialysis.
The Organising Chairman and District Webmaster of IWD 330, Merlin Gasper of IWC POTO, expressed her appreciation to members of the attending sister clubs—namely IWC Alor Setar, IWC Butterworth, and IWC Penang—for their invaluable support.
Hospital Director Dr Shameni Sonasundram conveyed her gratitude for this meaningful Inner Wheel initiative, acknowledging its positive impact on patient comfort and care.
In her address, District Chairman Jillian Estrop introduced Inner Wheel to those unfamiliar with the organisation, particularly hospital personnel, and thanked all donors and participants for their contributions.
Following the ceremony, breakfast was served, after which members visited patients undergoing dialysis who were using the newly donated ambulatory chairs.
Members of IWC Butterworth were proud to be part of this successful World Inner Wheel Day initiative, especially remembering that Inner Wheel’s founder, Margarette Golding, was herself a nurse and dedicated healthcare provider.
