Give to Gain: Uplifting Women, Inspiring Hope, Strengthening Communities
In conjunction with International Women’s Day 2026 and its theme, “Give to Gain,” the Inner Wheel Club of Subang Selangor (IWCSS) delivered basic necessities and art and craft supplies to the residents of Rumah Perlindungan Sosial Klang (RPS) on 3 March 2026.
The contribution was aimed at supporting the women and children at the shelter while encouraging creativity and well-being. A special note of appreciation goes to Ms Malli, who once again dedicated her time and effort to ensure that the club was able to fulfil RPS’s requests. The residents were also treated to a hearty KFC meal through the generosity of IWCSS’s international guest from Sri Lanka, Ms Viji.
The club’s support for RPS continued on 7 March when nine members joined RPS staff, residents, and representatives from several NGOs in celebrating International Women’s Day at the shelter. Vice President and Past President Ms Tara, Past Presidents Rani and Indira, Club Secretary Ms Chandrika, Assistant Secretary Ms Malli, Committee Members Asha and Kris, and Club Member Ms Santa accepted RPS’s invitation to participate in the celebration.
Representatives from YWCA Malaysia, YWCA branches from Petaling Jaya, Melaka and Seremban, LeadUp, and Lion Ladies of Hulubalang also attended the event. Together, participants celebrated the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in an atmosphere of sisterhood, support, and empowerment.
In her speech, Vice President Ms Tara highlighted IWCSS’s longstanding relationship with RPS and the club’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable women. She also received a souvenir on behalf of the club from Ms Eshoda, National President of YWCA, and Ms Elizabeth Tan, Chairperson of RPS.
The two engagements reflected the essence of the “Give to Gain” theme. While IWCSS contributed practical assistance and fellowship, members gained a deeper appreciation of the resilience and courage demonstrated by the women of RPS. The visits strengthened bonds between the club, the shelter, and fellow community organisations, illustrating how acts of generosity create meaningful connections and mutual benefit for all involved.
