Celebrating Us: Sisterhood, Sunshine and Soulful Connection on IWD 2026
On 8 March 2026, International Women’s Day was celebrated as a morning of Sisterhood, Sunshine & Soulful Connection for members of the Inner Wheel Club of Subang Selangor (IWCSS). This year, we stepped away from our usual structured activities to simply Celebrate Us. There were no long speeches and no formal programme, only fresh air, gentle movement, laughter, reflection, and an abundance of love and connection.
The day began with a thoughtful International Women’s Day greeting from President Rajani, who was in Australia at the time, reminding members that the bonds of sisterhood transcend distance and time zones.
Under the guidance of Organising Chairperson Past National Representative Shanti Menon and her dedicated team, members gathered at a beautifully chosen pergola within the park. Organising team members Asha and Kris arrived early to ensure that everyone could easily find the venue and settle in comfortably.
We began the morning with a gentle warm-up session curated by Rema, followed by a relaxed group walk around the park, soaking in the refreshing morning air, lush greenery, the peaceful rhythm of nature which was the perfect stage for easy conversation.
A potluck breakfast added to the joy of the morning. Members were grouped into five teams, each team assigned one category to bring. As always, members did not embrace the President’s “ten spoon rule”; lovingly contributing far more than required. The result was a generous and delicious spread, a true reflection of the generosity within our sisterhood.
Our special activity was the fellowship circle which featured three reflective activities designed around the theme Give to Gain to encourage members to celebrate the women within themselves. Activities included writing letters to one’s younger self, expressing gratitude, and participating in inner-strength friendship circle exercises. These meaningful moments allowed members to reflect deeply on their personal journeys, acknowledge growth shaped by life experiences, and consider how they might continue to evolve individually and collectively.
The session fostered self-compassion, emotional healing, stronger bonds, and a renewed sense of mental resilience and well-being. Members openly shared gratitude for their life experiences and the ways these have shaped who they are today.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the IWD organising team: Shanti M, Asha, Santa, Kris, and Rema, for their dedication and effort in making this event a success. The team is deeply grateful for the overwhelming participation of our members and also our international guest from Sri Lanka, Ms Viji, which made the morning truly memorable.
While we missed those who were unable to join us, it was nevertheless a beautiful celebration of strength, grace, and the enduring sisterhood we share.
Give to Gain — in every sense of the words.
