Celebrating the Hindu New Year


The Hindu New Year marks the first day of the lunisolar calendar signifying spring’s arrival and spiritual renewal. It is believed to be the start of a fresh cycle filled with hope, prosperity, and positivity.

This New Year is celebrated across India and among Hindus worldwide under different names and traditions. For example, it is known as Vishu in Kerala, Tamil Puthandu among Tamils, Vaisakhi in Punjab, and Ugadi in parts of South India. Though the names and customs may differ, the essence of celebrating new beginnings remains the same.

On 14th April 2026, members of Apsaras came together to celebrate at the Sikh Temple, Seremban on the invitation of a member to celebrate Vaisakhi. The gathering was filled with warmth, friendship, cultural appreciation and traditional delights.

On 15th April 2026, members enjoyed a delightful Vishu traditional vegetarian feast organised by Ayur Centre, Seremban. A variety of vegetarian dishes was served on banana leaves, featuring fragrant rice, sweet treats, rich payasam and an array of flavourful accompaniments that made the meal truly festive. The simple yet wholesome meal truly reflected the spirit of gratitude and renewal that the New Year brings.

The celebration was a meaningful fellowship event, strengthening bonds among members while embracing cultural diversity.
