GOLD project

Honorary Member YAB Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong and President Yoke Ling, together with eight IWCKL members, visited GOLD (Generating Opportunities for Learning Disabled) on 29 April 2026. The delegation received a very warm welcome from the Centre’s founder, Puan Ju, and her assistant, Encik Yusran.

The visit began with an insightful briefing on the history and mission of GOLD, as well as the backgrounds of the trainees. Members learned about the structured training programmes provided, which equip the trainees with valuable life and vocational skills, enabling them to integrate into society and access meaningful employment opportunities.

Following the briefing, members were given a tour of the centre, including the kitchen area where trainees were actively engaged in baking and cooking. It was heartening to witness their enthusiasm, dedication, and growing confidence in acquiring these practical skills.

The group was also treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the trainees, showcasing their abilities and the effectiveness of the training they receive.

As part of the visit, IWCKL contributed a donation of RM8,000 to support the centre. The funds will go towards the purchase of essential items, including an oven and a kitchen door. In addition, IWCKL presented gifts of kitchen wear to the trainees, including safety shoes, aprons, and towels.

In a thoughtful gesture, YAB Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong also presented duit Raya to each trainee, bringing much joy and excitement to them. The trainees were visibly happy and appreciative of the visit and the generosity extended.

The visit was both meaningful and inspiring, reinforcing IWCKL’s commitment to supporting community initiatives that empower individuals and create opportunities for a more inclusive society.
