International Understanding with IWC Calicut Central, IW District 320, India

One of the objectives of Inner Wheel is to foster International Understanding. In line with this, IWC Subang Selangor (IWCSS) was excited that the Club’s Charter President, Parimala Satheesan, took the initiative to connect IWCSS to IWC Calicut Central, a Club in District 320 in India.
Deputy NR Parimala Satheesan had a significant role in the formation of IWC Calicut Central. Her niece, Vanitha Manoj, was the Charter President of this Club from 2019-2021. During Vanitha’s visits to Malaysia, Parimala invited her niece to IWC Club functions which inspired and encouraged Vanitha to set up IWC Calicut Central. Parimala has always been on the side-lines supporting and guiding them.
IWC Calicut Central extended an invitation to IWCSS for the Installation of the President and Office bearers for the year 2021-2022 on 2nd August 2021. It was a proud moment for IWCSS as the Chief Guest for this virtual event was PDC and current Deputy NR Parimala Satheesan. IWCSS’ ISO, Rajani Vidyasagar, as the liaison person, facilitated the logistics for the Club’s participation. DISO Datin Pathma and her team of ISOs in District 330 were also invited to this virtual event.
It was certainly very exciting and interesting to witness the exchange of the President’s Jewel between outgoing President Vanitha Manoj and Incoming President Fouzia Mubashir and the solemnising of the office bearers. It was an honour for IWCSS to witness its Charter President officiating the occasion as Chief Guest.
IWCSS is privileged to learn of the various projects that the Calicut Club has undertaken despite the pandemic under IPP Vanitha Manoj. President Fouzia has already hit the ground running with Calicut Central’s flagship project of ‘Go Green’ by donating fruit tree saplings to a school. In line with this year’s IIW theme of “Pink First” and Education being one of the areas of focus, the Club has also donated smartphones to deserving girls.
On 29th August 2021, IWCSS and IWC Calicut Central will once again have a virtual meet to further boost friendship and fellowship. It will provide both Clubs an opportunity to exchange ideas, and to explore collaborative projects, in turn, helping to seal an international relationship with IWC Calicut Central.
