Thirty IWC Kuala Lumpur members journeyed to Mantin, a small town in the state of Negeri Sembilan, to bring cheer to residents of Charis Old Folks Home, distributing out Chinese New Year goodies and treating them to a "Yee Sang" lunch. 22 January 2016 (Friday). IWC Subang Selangor. Chennai flood project. IWC Subang contributed food items, amenities like beds, kitchen appliances etc to people of badly affected areas of chennai who lost all their belongings. A small amount was also donated as school fees for some children from families who lost everything. IWC Subang Selangor Treasurer was in Chennai to personally hand over the contributions. A joint project by IWC Subang with Society of Care Connectors Selangor was the handing over of Wheel Chairs to the Kanji Retirement Home located in PJ SS4. 10 January 2016 (Sunday). IWC Ioras Ipoh. Back to school 2016. IWC Ioras Ipoh organised an event called "BACK TO SCHOOL 2016" for the less fortunate children. They donated to the children of Precious Gift Home and Praise Home. The purpose of organizing this event was to ensure that they have enough education materials when they start school. Stationeries, school bags, water bottles, Tupperware and story books were donated to the children. Faber Castel sponsored the stationeries. It was a wonderful and heart warming project for the club. 24 December 2015 (Thursday). IWC Kuala Lumpur North. Deepavali Fellowship. DC Ambika Menon and friends were guests at the Deepavali Fellowship held at Sagar Restaurant. Friends were introduced to Inner Wheel friendship and encouraged to join the club. A cake-cutting ceremony celebrated the birthdays and wedding anniversaries of the month. Click to view photos. |
17 December 2015 (Thursday). IWC Bangsar. Christmas Project. In a partnership with Sunway Lagoon, IWC Bangsar gave 150 children from several organisations the opportunity to attend the Trikstars Sunway Lagoon event, where we also provided food and beverages. Many of the young children had never attended such an event so they were excited to be given the chance and elated by the outcome.Click to view photos.

10 December 2015 (Thursday). IWC Petaling Jaya. Mitigating Kota Belud Water Supply Crisis. The Inner Wheel Clubs of Kota Kinabalu, Petaling Jaya, Sandakan and Miri along with the Rotary Club of Luyang pooled their resources to implement their "Community Mitigation of Kota Belud Water Supply Crisis" which will benefit 30 homes at Kampong Piasau. It will resolve the water supply crisis precipitated by the earthquake which struck Ranau in June 2015. It entailed putting in place a new gravity feed water system and an extension of the piping system to the kampong. The presentation was held on the 10th of December 2015. Click to view photos. |
6 December 2015 (Sunday). IWC Subang Selangor. Participating in Educare 2015. EDUCARE 2015 was organised by the Buddhist Association of Subang Jaya at the Subang Jaya Buddhist temple. In this project, destitude children will receive stationeries, school shoes, and other study kits. IWC Subang Selangor identified 28 children from Yayasan Beribu Harapan in Bandar Puteri as recipients. IWC Kuala Lumpur North in collaboration with Hendriks Hair Saloon gave the residents free haircuts and while waiting their turn they were treated to ice cream. 30 November 2015 (Monday). IWC Kuala Lumpur. Story Telling & Book Project in Chiengmai, Thailand. 13 ladies, led by Club President Navam, from the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur, in District 330, participated in a joint story telling project with the Rotary Club of Bangrak, Thailand. The Rotarians hold a weekly “storytelling” for underprivileged children around the "Lumbini Park”, Chiangmai area. Our IW Club donated USD1000 worth of children's story books in English. The children's ages ranged from 5 to 10 years old. The extra books were distributed to underprivileged children in Chiangmai by the Rotarians.Click to view photos. 18 October 2015 (Sunday). IWC Subang Selangor. Diwali Cheer at Rumah Yayasan Beribu Harapan Malaysia. Rumah Yayasan Beribu Harapan Malaysia in Bandar Puteri is an orphanage of about 53 children ages 18 months to 18 years. IWC of Subang Selangor distributed McDonald burgers to the children and set up "Bouncy Castle" for the little ones. The children were taught to say a prayer before they have their meals. 17 October 2015 (Saturday) District 330. Friendship Day in Penang. The Guest of Honour and Speaker as well as Past District Chairman and District Extension Organiser Datin Seetha Lakshmi gave a talk on “INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND OF INNER WHEEL”. President Grace Voon IWC Penang introduced the speaker. The talk given by Datin Seetha was inspiring and a refresher for Inner Wheel members and new for the invited 5 friends. President Grace Voon sang a song and read a poem. Just to get to know one another better and as an “Ice Breaker”, Immediate Past President of IWC Penang, Jillian Leggett, came up with a game where everyone took part and mingled and enjoyed themselves. 10 October 2015 (Saturday) IWC Ipoh East. Fun time for women at the day care centre of the Perak Society For The Promotion Of Mental Health. On 10th of October 2015 members of Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East took a trip to the Day Care Centre to have some fun activities with the inmates of the centre. This project was initiated for the promotion of mental health at Batu Lapan, Tambun, Ulu Kinta, Perak. It was a day full of enjoyment and laughter. 5 September 2015 (Saturday) IWC Penang. A visit to Paediatric Oncology Ward. The aim of the visit was to bring cheer to the patients in the ward. Stationeries and a story book “The Little Ant”, was personally distributed by the author, Faye Ong, to the children at the ward. The clown was a hit with the children. It was rewarding when one mother thanked the members for visiting, as visits like this break the monotony of a hospital stay. Click to view photo. |

29 August 2015 (Saturday) IWC Ipoh East. Joint micro-financing project with Tech Outreach. TECH Outreach Malaysia, a well established non-governmental organisation, recently expanded its partnership to Perak when they offered Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East an opportunity to collaborate with them to introduce their proven successful Micro Credit Financing Scheme in the state of Perak. This scheme offers a loan of up to RM2,000 to women-headed households to help them start a small business as a source of income for their family. Each loan is payable through 18 months. A ‘Train the Trainer’ session for members of IWCIE was held on the 29 August 2015 at the Royal Ipoh Club. The first batch of applicants was interviewed on the same day. Click to view photos. |
16 August 2015 (Sunday). IWC Ipoh East. Love to the children of Kampung Jantung Baru Orang Asli Village. Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East joined KECHARA study group, a Buddhist organization, in a visit to Kampung Jantung Baru Orang Asli Village. This trip was made to set up a mini library for the kids in the village. Inner Wheel members conducted a few activities to keep the kids entertained while the library was being set up. The IWCIE members also brought food items and clothes for them. Regular visits to the village, primarily to read to the children, will be an on-going project for the Club. Click to view photos. |

The Guest of Honour was the Inner Wheel District 330 District Chairman Ambika Ravi Menon. The club has 26 members including one member, Mary Anne Loh Ah Moy who was inducted the same night.
