On 15th of June 2019, Inner Wheel clubs from the length and breadth of District 330 converged in Kuala Lumpur to undergo the annual training session conducted by senior members and office holders of the Board of 2018/2019. IWC Ipoh East. 25 May 2019. Fun Time At Perak Society for the Promotion of Mental Health.

IWC of Ipoh East President and Members visited the Perak Society for the Promotion of Mental Health. This is the club's ongoing community service project. The morning passed so quickly and it was pure joy to see the smiling faces of the clients as they joined us in singing and dancing. They eagerly participated in the games, bringing laughter to all present. Mid-morning break with muffins and Milo were relished by the 70 clients. Goody bags were distributed to everyone and it was time to say 'au revoir' ~ until next year. "Happiness is not having what you want. It is appreciating what you have." ~ Abraham Lincoln. A weekend away from the bustling city life was truly a welcome change to mundane routines. From 3-5 May, for 3 days and 2 nights, the ladies took a trip up Cameron Highlands and had so much fun staying together in the SWING service apartment.  Our photo memories tells it all.  As you see our smiling faces with joy and contentment.  Being together was such a great time. Sightseeing… Shopping… Lazing around.  Poking joyful fun at each other in the spirit of camarademie.  Nothing measure up to the spirit of bonding our relationships and getting to know each other better. On 28th April 2019, President Prema Nair and members of IWCIE celebrated Easter with 13 children at Rainbow Home, an orphanage home in Pari Gardens, Ipoh. The children aged 3 to 16 enjoyed the activities arranged for them. Members bonded well and shared a sumptuous lunch with the children. Each child was given a bag of goodies according to their age. The Home received grocery items sponsored by IWCIE members and friends of Inner Wheel. It was a well organised programme by OC Anne Shamini. Click to view photos.

Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar visited the NTA School for Refugee Children in Alor Setar. This project was to enable members to understand more about how this school is run and how IWC AS can help. Children enjoyed a milk and cereal breakfast, engaged in a colouring competition ending with a prize giving ceremony. Marianne, the Manager of the School gave an insight into the lives of these children. Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar hopes to make this an ongoing project and to continue to bring them cheer, hope and support. Click to view photos.

It was truly memorable when the President Dr. Janet Lim and her members visited the Retirement Home for the elderly in Sg. Ara, Bayan Lepas, Penang.  The Seniors were so happy, touched and appreciate with our visit. We sang, we offer gifts, spend time talking, playing games and even fed some who are incapable of feeding ownself.  A lovely Sunday indeed well spend.  So meaningful to be able to touch lives and hearts. On March23, 2019 we had a visit to the Paediatric Oncology and Nephrology ward of the Hospital Pulau Pinang. We regular cater for the needs of this main public hospital. This year we provided a new 40-inch television which was installed in the ward. They show programs which are suitable for children. Click to view writeup and photos.

We visited the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Penang on March 18, 2019. This society is an animal shelter which caters temporary for sick, injured and unwanted animals, mainly cats and dogs. They promote adoption of animals, but also try to educate the public for an ethical attitude in raising animals and having responsibility as a pet owner. IWC Pearl of the Orient members participated in this event organized by Rotary District 3300 Malaysia at Rainbow Paradise Resort.  Run for health, walk for cancer awareness and ‘plog’ for the environment. This event was in support of a good cause and aimed to raise funds for cancer patient. The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur, in fostering "education beyond the classroom", sponsored SMK Jinjang by supporting extra-curricular programmes in traditional Chinese culture, music and dance. On 15th February 2019, in conjunction with the Lunar New Year celebrations hosted by the Chinese members of the Club, students of SMK Jinjang presented a show, demonstrating new ideas in costume and choreography, backed by an ensemble of musicians.

We had joy, we had fun, we had laughter in the morn!!!! Members of Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East took part in “Karnival NGO-NGO Prihatin Perak”. This carnival was organised by NGOs and Perak state agencies is open to the public. The aim of joining this carnival was to promote and publicise the club and its activities. During World Inner Wheel Day Celebration on 12th Jan 2019 all attendees were asked to contribute an item that can go towards giving the needy a warm meal through The LIGHTHOUSE.   The open hearts of all attended made this project a meaningful and successful event.  The ladies of IWC Penang and IWC Pearl of the Orient delivered the items & cash collected to the LIGHTHOUSE followed by a simple fellowship lunch in the LIGHTHOUSE Café. The Inner Wheel Clubs of Penang and the Pearl of the Orient had co-organized the World Inner Wheel Day Celebration in Penang. We raised sponsored goods and 710 RM in cash for the "Fill the Barrel"- project on that evening 12 January 2019. The donations were going to the Light House Centre were homeless people can find a decent meal and can wash their clothes as well as clean themselves. The dinner was hosted by IW member Joyce as a post Xmas as well as farewell to her lovely daughter, Anna who will soon be leaving to Australia  to pursue her PhD. The World Inner Wheel Day Celebration 2019 was a mutually arranged event between the Inner Wheel Club of Penang and the Pearl of the Orient. It was an evening celebration which took place in the Copthorne Hotel in Penang on 12 January 2019. During this weekend a number of gatherings took place as we had guests from all over Malaysia (11 Clubs out of 20 Inner Wheel Clubs in District 330). Besides that we had guests from Singapore, Scotland. From Australia the International Inner Wheel President Christine Kirby joined the event. Click to view photos.

The World Inner Wheel Day Celebration for this year was held in the Copthorne Hotel in Penang on 12 January 2019 as a combined event of the Inner Wheel Club of Penang and the Pearl of the Orient. We were honoured not only with the presence of 11 Clubs of our 20 Clubs in the District 330; also the International Inner Wheel President Christine Kirby from Australia joined the event. The World Inner Wheel Day celebrations kicked off in style with an opening welcome led by ladies of IWC Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Pearl of the Orient, all dressed in traditional nyonya kebaya outfits to grandly usher President Kirby to the VVIP table. There was a dance performance by IWC Kuala Lumpur and two more guest performances. It was a memorable night held in place by the two capable master of ceremonies, PP Merlin and Asha. The band in attendance had the ladies kicking off their heels and dancing with IIW President. The night ended with a wonderful “Dikir Barat” performance by IWC of Subang. 10th January 2019 Inner Wheel Club Ipoh East members celebrated World Inner Wheel Day in Penang with other clubs of District 330. The event was jointly organised by IWC Pearl of the Orient and IWC Penang. IIW President Christine Kirby graced the occasion. President Prema Nair exchanged the club banner with IIW President. Inner Wheel Club of Ipoh East President Prema and Members had lent a hand in “Kem Mesra”- an education programme for children. Children had English Language games and learning activities such as chicken dance, hot potato games, colouring contest, presenting poster, their resolutions for 2019 and reordering a story. 6 Jan 2019. IWC Kuala Lumpur celebrates World Inner Wheel Day with a carnival for the orang asli villagers.

Following a successful build of an orang asli house (read here), 54 members from eleven Inner Wheel Clubs converged in the little village of Sungai Lallang near the town of Semenyih in the state of Selangor, bringing food and drinks for 350 villagers and setting up stations for medical and dental checks, eye screening and a children's play area. The highlight of the event is the initiation of three programmes designed to empower the villagers for self-development. In helping one family at a time, one village at a time, uplifting the quality of life of this minority community brings hope and a happier future. December is the month of fun and joy.  We organize this Christmas gift exchange to strengthen the fellowship among our members and foster good relationship among ourselves. We were happy & excited to be able to collaborate with Family Hope Welfare Association for their annual Christmas Party.  We donated 10 hampers worth RM1000 and toys towards this event which brought so much cheer to more than 100 children from families of widows, single moms and needy families. PDE Cheng Yeok San gave a talk on "Building a Home for An Orang Asli Family" to Members of RC Kinta during their monthly meeting. The project was to commemorate IWC Kuala Lumpur's 70th Anniversary and was undertaken by 25 builders including members from the Inner Wheel Clubs of KL, Intan, Klang and Ipoh East. The members were busy during the Deepavali month. First, members cheered up six Hindu underprivileged families from the low cost flats at Kota Damansara (click to see photo). Held at the Kota Damansara Community Library, the families were given provisions, a new saree, veshti and refreshments. The meeting cum Deepavali Fellowship was hosted by President Datin Pathma and spouse, PP Dato' Rama (Rotary Club of Indera Mahkota) at their residence. All members were excited to receive the new club's red t-shirt presented to them. These t-shirts were duly sponsored by our Charter Member, Datin Sri Soh Chui Choo and spouse, Datuk Sri Lim Eng Boon. This is a service project by the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur led by Lynn Wong (President 2018-2019) and Juanita Lee (Deputy National Representative 2018-2019). In celebrating International Childrens' Day at McD, IWC Kuantan Indera Mahkota's theme was EMPOWER CHILDREN - Bringing Them Together and Closer. It was indeed a fun filled morning with the kids enjoying themselves. The event made a great impact to these children. It really TOUCHED THE HEARTS of the little ones. Ladies of our Club priviledged and happy to welcome District 330 Chairman Peggy Khoo during her club visit with us on October 20th 2018 at Monroe Cafe and Restaurant. The visit was a successful blend of formalities during the meeting followed by an evening of fun and fellowship at the dinner where everyone was able to mingle and enjoy great music and a lovely dinner. The Joblink Centre in Penang is a society for the aid to the handicapped, which is very close to the hearts of the members of Inner Wheel Club of Penang. On 17 October 2018 we paid them another visit. Joblink Centre is trying to assist disabled individuals to gain economic independence by giving them a workplace which suits their abilities. CPR and AED awareness programme, International Life Saving Educational Project organised by Rotary Club of Madras Vadapalani, India at Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai. Dr Theyveeka Selvy d/o Rajoo, Club Correspondent, IWC Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, has given an awareness talk on life saving by educating the skill on CPR and AED, during emergency when someone has no sign of life. IWC of Penang sponsored a workshop with the name "Finding my Voice". This is a programme offered by the Women's Centre for Change (WCC) for girls aged 13 to 15 years old. We sponsored this day-long workshop for 12 girls from the orphanage of Children's Protection Society in Scotland Road, Penang. Additionally we treated all 32 children of this institution aged 5 to 18 years for lunch. Click to view photos.

An EGM and regular meeting with lunch and fellowship was held at Suffolk House, Penang. Penang Suffolk House is a stunning example of an Anglo-Indian garden house restaurant and Malaysia’s only surviving Georgian Mansion, originally built in the early 1800s with tasteful interior decoration and garden setting.  It was formally the residence of Francis Light, the founder of the British settlement on the Prince of Wales island, commonly known as Penang Island. Committee Ladies with Bunga Mangga gave a warm welcome to District Chairman Peggy Khoo during her official visit to IWCKL. Speaker of the Month was Mdm Anu Radhabhai, on the topic of “Splendour of Saree” who also taught members on saree draping techniques which members attempted with much aplomb. The “Happy Kids” programme, the club's ongoing project, is conducted weekly at SJK Methodist Sungai Siput, Perak. During one of these weekly programme, PP Alamelu Narayanan  demonstrated the ‘Yoga Asanas' or 'Yoga Poses’, much to the enjoyment of the children who participated. Click to view photos.

9 Jul 2018. IWC Kuala Lumpur. Raya Fellowship hosted by the Muslim members of IWCKL held at the residence of Robin Lokman.

The Club's Honorary member, Toh Puan Aishah Ong together with Muslim members hosted a Hari Raya gathering at the residence of member Robin Lokman. The event was graced by the Club's Royal Patron YAM Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Tuanku Aishah Rohani.
